Beneath the Surface event

This week the teens at our library summer program looked beneath the surface of sports medicine.  Dr. Justin Hood, head of the Gregory Hospital's PT department, taught us about taping injuries, a bit of emergency first aid, and ICER (a helpful memory hint: ice, compression, elevation & rest) and
other helpful tips.  As our library activity, we used imaginary scenarios and dug into great medical sites (thanks, Library Institute!) on the computer and also at teen help webpages that were reliable and contained true facts that we could use in real life.

Seven teens received prizes this week for reading minutes and attending programs this summer.  Way to go!

Great skills for the teens to know! It's good that they have somewhere constructive to go during the summer.
