Week 5 Social Media Metrics and Reader's Advisory Groups

Didn't know until today that when I'm looking at our website's number of hits I was checking out our "metrics".  This only shows the interest in our library's web presence and doesn't indicate the specific pages being viewed.  Since I have rarely had any comments on this blog or the library's blog (which is new since I started using this one for class work.) according to our class today, it would seem like I am not reaching anyone with this format.  Perhaps I should just stop the blogs altogether.  Seems like a waste of time that could be profitably spent elsewhere!

I have a personal account with Goodreads.  It was interesting to learn that Shelfari has a device that can connect from a website.  I never found out if there was a similar thing for Goodreads, but I'll look into it.  That would be a great way to notify patrons of new books without posting in several locations.
That might be more useful for our library than having a Facebook page.  I really am leery about starting a Facebook page for the library.  I'll keep pondering over Christmas....

I have a GOODREADS account but will also look into Shelfari.  One of the library patrons was going to start a web page to keep track of their reading so I directed them to Shelfari.  She called back and said she had it all set up in a few minutes and was very thankful.  So perhaps I will switch.  Another New Years' project!
