Whenever my kids would ask "what's for supper?", I'd usually respond, "grumble soup!". After hearing this a few times, they finally figured out that if they were going to grumble about it anyway, I wasn't going to give a definitive answer!
However, here at the library, we are not grumbling. We are counting our blessings and giving thanks....
...for things of the future
Thanks to private donations and gifts, city budget increases and grant money---more programs for 2013:1. a summer teen program challenge with terrific incentives
2. joining the Advantage plan with OverDrive (which will add e-books to which only Gregory Public Library patrons will have downloadable access. Cool!)
3. more one-on-one computer technology training
4. small workshops training for use of electronic resources
and great volunteers committed to helping us complete our strategic plan for 2013-2018.
...for things of the present
1. new carpeting, paint and remodeling of our library this fall2. new best sellers, new DVDs to add to our growing collection
4. community support that prioritizes the library, both at official and unofficial levels
5. great staff and trustees
6. volunteers (can't do it without them!)
...for things of the past
librarians, library staff, community leaders, trustees, city officials, private citizens who were committed to start a library over 100 years ago with the mission of promoting lifelong learning for all ages and sharing the love of reading with our community.
