I enjoyed this lesson on photo sharing and saving. I recently started using Picasa from Google and have been working at sorting and saving my pictures, which I have been keeping private because most of them include people who do not wish to be shared! At first I didn't tag the pictures, so now I am going back and tagging them so that I can use them for scrapbooking projects on specific subjects or events.
For the library, we have a news article with photos that we publish every year and it will be nice to be able to find those photos when we need them. Right now I have some of our photos uploaded to this blogger site. But I could start a Picasa private photo collection for the library and organize our historical and recent photos there. This will take some time, so I guess it's going on the "wish I had enough time to do this" list for now!
The photo which I uploaded is a picture from the google public photo album (by mogens). You can add comments, feedback, etc. regarding photos which are on the public picasa, so I don't know why it is not considered to have "social interaction", such as Flickr does. ?? Anyways, I uploaded this one because I went to Hawaii for our 25th wedding anniversary 10 years ago and we had a terrific time.
I don't have any specific criticism or praise to give about Flickr. Some of my relatives have invited me from time to time to look at their photos on Flickr. I guess I'm just getting used to using the Picasa and don't want to try learning another process from a different site at this point!
It was interesting to learn about geotagging, but I really cannot see any benefit to doing this with my personal photos. Just seems like a lot of work that is not going to reap any great rewards!

Picasa is a great tool and just as useful as Flickr. (Flickr might get more hype, but in the end you still are doing the same thing.) I'm glad you're enjoying playing with photos!
I've used the geotagging features when I upload photos from trips -- it's interesting to see where you've been. :)
