I really enjoyed going through many of the electronic resources that are available for use in South Dakota. Some of them I had worked with before, but this time around, I found even more uses for resources (such as Ancestry for old yearbook pictures or !). I loved working with Camio and learning about ArchiveGrid, which I had not used before. Much time was spent today looking back through the databases on World Cat to find out how I could make use of them. I typed in South Dakota under the World Almanac keyword and found several things there. (Some, unfortunately, mentioned both South Dakota and South America in one article....?)
I think there is a need for constant refreshers on the material presented. I have taken the SIRS researcher course a couple of times online and again with Electronic Resources Challenge and I still need reminders of how to go through and find something.
I find that the puzzle map that hangs on our bulletin board and in our entryway is very helpful if I am trying to find the right resource to assist with a reference question.
I like the links to the handouts. I didn't know that they were available either and had been trying to print out my own. THANKS for pointing that out!
My wonderful web master, Jennifer at the city hall, has figured out how to embed the link for the Cornerstone on our website, which is cool. I know I should be able to add it to my reader at the library's gmail site, but I haven't had time to figure it out again (from the last Electronic Challenge that I did...yes I did learn it but that information fell out of my brain while I was busy stuffing it with other things.) So I am thankful that I can quickly access the Cornerstone when I open up my staff computer.
Thanks for all the great information found in the lessons. It is much appreciated!
